After spending a week in Titusville, we were ready to move on. But there was one more thing we needed to cross off our list.

A few years ago, one of our dear friends Maureen has moved from Boston to Orlando with her husband Patrick in search of warmer weather and new career opportunities. We reached out to them and they graciously accepted our invitation to meet with us at our boat on our last day in Titusville.

Maureen and I worked at Wellesley College for many years and spent time with other colleagues in an environment that had a trusting and strong workplace culture, so seeing her and her well natured husband Patrick was a very special occasion.

The passage of time may have relocated us, changed us, distracted us, and even made us lose track of one another. But In a mere moment back together it is like no time has passed. We spend some time reminiscing about “the old days.” Some times that results in lots of laughter, other times it sobers us as we discuss those who aren’t around anymore. The shared memories connect us and make us more open to deeper communication. And the stories about events you forgot will reopen insights into who you are. They may also remind you of how far you have come and why you don’t want to go backward.

In today’s world, everybody uses social media to connect with others or friends. But there’s nothing like a good old fashion people getting together with friends for laughter, conversations and good-eats. We will always treasure rare and special moments like today.

Just Like Old Days
