Port Jefferson to City Island (the Bronx) (38 NM). Another 6:00 AM early start for Jim (while I slept in :-), hoping to arrive before stoms arrives. The trip was mostly uneventful. We passed by Execution Rock (as seen in photo), a rock pile in the middle of LI sound where the British soldiers used to tie Colonial soldiers during low tide so they would drown in high tide.  As we’re about to pickup the mooring line, Murphy’s law strucked. Skies opened with rain and thunder. We’re both soaked through. Later that day we took advatage of some clearing and went out to expore City Island (if you like seafood Sammy’s is the place to be), they have four diffrent seafood resturants within 2 blocks (Sammys Fish Box, Sammy’s Shrimp Box, Sammy’s fish market, Sammy’s Loster House)… Oh did I mention next door was also Jonny’s Reef’s too. Since Jim’s tummy is still not 100% we ordered crab cakes to go back for a scenic dinner in the cockpit, we could even see the the Empire State Building light up for Labor day in red, white and blue… Wishing you all had a wonderful Labor Day!!!
