We left Carolina Beach with a blistering Northeast wind blowing 15-25 knots. Navigation takes us away from the ICW temporarily and turn into Cape Fear River. This stretch can be rough if the wind is strong. We planned for a short day for this.

As the wind gusted higher and higher, we followed a fleet of sailboats run down Cape Fear River for an hour and a half before the armada turned its way back into the calm waters of the ICW. We took a deep breath and gave each other a high five.

We stopped shortly at an ICW marina to rest and refuel, sort of like driving a truck down an interstate and stopped along a highway rest-area for convenience. There’s nothing nearby or worth seeing, just somewhere to rest and recharge.

Claudia needed some transfer paper for her Cricket printer with her arts & crafts projects, suggested we walked to a Dollar General Store and try our luck. A mile and a half later, we entered the biggest Dollar store we’ve ever experienced. It’s kinda like a super Dollar store with groceries, beer & wine, ice cream, along with rest of the usual Dollar store items that you don’t need but somehow managed to purchase.

We didn’t find the transfer paper but found Angie’s Fresh Produce market next door and brought back fresh fruits, veggies and some beautiful heirloom tomatoes.

Today chronicled a common day in our travels; nothing exciting or interesting. Traveling and living in a small space for long distance is not easy as we constantly try to establish some sort of home life for some sense of normalcy. Running errands like today really does help. Claudia also decorated our boat for Halloween as she does back home every October.

Tomorrow we enter Lowcountry of  South Carolina.
